From Groundbreaking to Life-Changing

At Chief Cares, we believe rebuilding a community takes more than bricks and buildings—it takes people. The neighbors who lend a hand. The helpers who hang on. The ones who keep our communities standing, even after the storm passes.

This fall, the first residents of Blue Haven will move into their homes—marking a major milestone in our Blueprint for the Blue Ridge and our long-term commitment to helping community pillars stay rooted in the communities they serve.

Because this isn’t just about homes. It’s about hope.

Each home represents security, dignity, and a fresh start for the people who make Western North Carolina such a special place.

Our first eight families are preparing to move in over the coming months. They are the ones who…

  • Picked up chainsaws and casseroles.
  • Showed up in classrooms, cafeterias, and clinics.
  • Held space for neighbors grieving unthinkable loss.
  • Choose to stay, to rebuild, and to believe in something better.

Thanks to the generosity of our partners and donors, these families will live rent-free for ten years. And at the end of that term, they’ll receive the full ownership of the house.

It’s a model built on trust and designed for generational impact.

Because we’re not just focused on recovery.

We’re here for restoration.

We’re honored to walk alongside these incredible families as they begin this new chapter—and we’re just getting started. With more homes in development across the region, the work continues—and so does the hope.
