Chief Cares is committed to helping rebuild the Western North Carolina communities that were devastated by the destruction from Hurricane Helene.
With your support we can help rebuild lives and communities in this challenging time. Together, we can provide hope to those in need and ensure no one will face their darkest hour alone.
Our mission in North Carolina is to be here for the long haul. We are going to start by immediately building homes for 100 families in Avery County and the surrounding areas, and keeping these communities preserved and rebuilt. We’ve come up with a Blueprint for the Blue Ridge. We are also helping to address longer term needs like creating jobs, rebuilding schools, and supporting local businesses. Often when disaster strikes, funds flow in from great people wanting to help, but when the world turns its eye to the next devastation, a lot can get lost and fall through the cracks. We are committed to the long-term rebuilding of these communities.
In the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Chief Cares has and continues to work with local leaders and community members to aid in various ways. For example, due to large scale water system damage, many residents have not been able to bathe. We have helped construct temporary shower trailers so those in need can take a much needed a hot shower. Chief Cares also continues to provide residents with essential supplies such as toiletries, sheltering, clothing and more. We are closely monitoring the needs in the area and adapting our response and service accordingly.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, many families in Mitchell, Avery, and Yancey counties have faced unimaginable, devastating losses. The Appalachian Angel Tree program is a way for our community to come together and support our neighbors during this difficult time.
To provide immediate relief following the devastation of Hurricane Helene while also providing ongoing funds to support a more resilient future for North Carolina, Eric Church announced he is signing over all of his publishing royalties for his new song to the people of North Carolina. The song, Church’s first new solo release in over three years, is titled “Darkest Hour” and is now available everywhere.
